How Overnighter works
From an empty map to a costed, checklisted trip with the route in your phone. Seven steps, and none of them involve a spreadsheet.
Choose where you're starting and where you're heading. Overnighter works out the route between them — the same road you were going to drive anyway.
Overnighter sweeps a corridor either side of your route and shows you the spots inside it — five miles by default, and you can widen it up to 120 — no searching town by town.
Open a spot for photos, type, cost, facilities and reviews from other members — enough to tell a quiet lay-by from one beside a main road.
Add a spot and it becomes a stop. Add up to five and you have a multi-stop road trip, in the order you'll drive it, re-routed as you go.
Send the whole thing — start, every stop, destination — straight to Google Maps, and save the route so it's still there when you get back.
A saved route becomes a trip in My Trips. Set a departure date and it counts down, holding the route, the stops and the mileage in one place.
Every trip gets a Before You Go checklist — tyres, gas and water, documents — and a budget planner for fuel, campsites, ferries, food and activities.
Put in where you are starting and where you are heading, and the spots along the way come to you. No account needed to look.
More than a place to park
Finding somewhere to sleep is the easy half. The rest of it — the route, the stops, the date, the kit, the cost — is the half that decides whether the trip happens.

Set a start and a destination and Overnighter finds the spots sitting within about five miles of the road you are driving — then lets you add them as stops, in order, and send the whole thing to Google Maps.

Every photo and every review on the site was added by someone with an account, and members add spots too. That is what the ratings are made of — and every rating shows how many reviews are behind it.
Add a spot
Listings carry the type, the cost, the facilities and which vehicles are welcome, and the map filters on all of it — so you can rule out the height barrier or the no-caravans sign before you turn off.
